The Pirates of the Pier are back and pleased to announce the opening of registration for the SCHWORDS AND SCHOONERS STAGE COMBAT AND MARITIME WORKSHOP 2012! This Dueling Arts International AND Society of American Fight Directors sanctioned workshop introduces students into the world of The Golden Age Great Lakes Piracy and High Seas Adventure.

With a flush staff (5 students to 1 recognized teacher) the beginner through intermediate and advanced skilled stage combatants will enjoy the challenges! Finally a workshop that helps train students and teachers for working in Maritime based plays, pirate themed stunt shows and historical reenactments while keeping the history alive through story telling. You’ll also get to live and fight on an actual pirate ship docked on Chicago’s Navy Pier!

Classes include: Cutlass Duels, Boarding Party Found Weapon Battle!, Bar Room Breakaways, and Bar Room Brawl! Alexander (or should we say AlexandARRR) technique! And much more! New this year, Advanced Rig climbing , Sailing 101 and Naval Battle Techniques!

Hold Harmless Agreement Hold Harmless Agreement * HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT This Hold Harmless Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into as of __________, by and between Orion Couling and Instructors of the the Schwords and Schooners Workshop, Dueling Arts International, LLC (“Dueling Arts”), and the signer of this electronic (digital) form(“Student”). RECITALS A. Whereas “company name”, presents programs (“Programs”) in theatrical stage combat, and/or movement that may allow students of said programs to be adjudicated by Dueling Arts. B. Whereas Student wishes to participate in such Programs. C. Whereas Schwords and Schooners Workshop has conditioned participation in the Program on the execution of this Agreement in order to protect the interests of Instructor and Dueling Arts. NOW, THEREFORE for good and valuable consideration the receipt and adequacy of which are hereby acknowledged, Dueling Arts, Instructor and Student agree as follows: AGREEMENT 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The parties to this Agreement incorporate the foregoing recitals as if stated herein. 2. Indemnification and Hold Harmless. Student agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Instructor, the Tall Ship Windy , Navy Pier, Schwords and Schooners, Dueling Arts, its officers, employees, owners and agents from any and all claims, losses, damages or expenses of any kind, including legal expenses, arising out of the Programs or related activities by Student, his/her heirs, agents or assigns, including but not limited to, claims for personal injuries, death, or property damage, or any other claims. 4. Guarantees. Schwords and Schooner, Instructor, and Dueling Arts do not guarantee, or make any representation concerning the safety or suitability of the Programs for any Student in said Programs. Student understands that the Program could include the risk or injury, property damage or death and expressly assumes any and all such risks. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this Agreement to be executed the electronic initialling or signing of this document and the initialing and witnessing day orientation of workshop.
