Great Mouse Detective (Adventurers) (Sign Up Here!)

The clues are in, the chase is on, and the case of the century is about to break wide open in Disney's greatest little mystery in history! Let THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE take you on an adventurous journey through the cobblestone streets of 1897 London, where some suspicious "mousechief" is the suspenseful start to this thrilling musical adventure. Olivia, the brave daughter of a beloved London toymaker, turns to Basil of Baker Street for help with her father's disappearance.  Basil's jolly assistant, Dr. Dawson, and loyal dog Toby lend a hand ... and nose ... as they sniff out clues through their charming miniature world. The final chase leads to Professor Ratigan, a hard-hearted criminal whom Basil must outwit to save all of Mousedom in this reduced version of an epic tail!

Someone is breaking globes in the cover at night in Sherlock Holmes’ and John Watson’s school and they are on the case. Their teacher begins to act strangely with each broken globe and the new custodian destroys all the evidence. Will Sherlock and John uncover their teacher’s secret? Will their classroom rival, Jimmy, foil their efforts at uncovering the mystery? The clues are vanishing and time is running out!

BlockLegend.png

It all started like any other day for Sherlock and it started with a murder. As Sherlock works seemingly unrelated cases, he realizes Moriarty has cast a web to ensnare him. Moriarty seeks revenge on Sherlock for thwarting him when they were school children and devises a plan to put a stop to Sherlock’s meddling. Will Sherlock be able to outsmart and outmaneuver the brilliant Moriarty or has Sherlock finally met his match?

Voice acting is a different skill than normal stage acting. In this class we will learn to convey emotions with just our voices and how to give weight to our words. During the course of this class, we’ll read through scripts, pick characters, and practice a radio play that we will then perform on the final day.  We will also record this final performance, which we will send out to the actors after it’s edited and produced for them to keep. Sketch and Scene Writing (Sign Up Here!)

Have you ever watched Saturday Night Live or been to Second City? What you are watching are scripted scenes, developed through improvisation techniques.  The purpose of this class to learn how to write scenes based on improv concepts.  Don’t be fooled, this class is not about comedy writing.  Not all scenes have to be funny.  This class is all about improving writing skills and understanding basics of script writing.  Collaboration is a key element but individual work is also required.  We will work on scene structure, character development, writing solid dialogue, and play around with style.  Expect a lot of in class writing and a fair amount of homework.  Improv experience is not required so don’t worry about that.  Make sure to bring your preferred writing tool, be it a notebook and pen or laptop.  We will invite parents to the final class for a short performance/reading of the scenes written for the class.

Casino Royale (Sign Up Here!)

These well-known benefits of a regular poker game apply to kids as well: cementing friendships, acquiring social skills, developing critical thinking and honing interpretive and analytical skills while also working on match, statistics, and probabilities.

As Bill Gates says of his college-age poker exploits: "In poker, a player collects different pieces of information -- who's betting boldly, what cards are showing, what this guy's pattern of betting and bluffing is -- and then crunches all that data together to devise a plan for his own hand. I got pretty good at this kind of information processing."
